Making a Difference in Our Community

The Synergy Community Foundation was founded in 2012 as an extension of the passion and dedication Synergy Comp employees demonstrate every day.  The Synergy Community Foundation’s purpose is to create educational opportunities for their community’s youth because a well-educated child is the cornerstone for a stable and successful society.

The Foundation was created in order to take advantage of the Education Improvement Tax Credit Program provided by the Pennsylvania Department of Community & Economic Development.

The Synergy Community Foundation distributes Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) funds awarded by the State of Pennsylvania.  For every dollar of Pennsylvania policy premium Synergy writes, 2% is collected by Pennsylvania for Premium Tax.

Annually, The Synergy Community Foundation submits an application to the state to use these required tax dollars to fund scholarships to pre-K and Parochial education programs in the Shenango Valley.Synergy Community Foundation

Along the way, the Foundation has also worked with incredibly inspiring educators that make the most of every dollar provided to them to create educational opportunities for students in their neighborhoods that may not otherwise be able to have access to quality education.

Some of the Foundations prior grant recipients include:  United Way’s Success by Six, Building Blocks Child Center, St. Michael’s School, Shenango Valley Catholic School System & Zion Education Center.

More than a handful of grants were approved during the May Foundation board meeting.   The current EITC funds awarded to the Foundation has allowed the board to approve eight grants at their last month meeting totaling over $78,000 for the 2018-2019 school year.

The donations don’t stop there.  Pre-K scholarships were distributed to Zion Education Center, The Children’s Center of Mercer County, KidZone Learning Center of Hermitage, St. Michael School, Shenango Valley Catholic School System, and Building Blocks Child Center, Inc.

The Synergy Community Foundation prides themselves in creating educational opportunities for our community’s youth and are excited to see what opportunities the rest of the year will bring!
