Safety Awareness: Attention to Detail

Hazards are present in every workplace.  And, as you routinely perform the same job functions, these hazards become less and less noticeable.

Each year, an estimated 6,000 employees in the United States die from workplace accidents while another 50,000 die from illnesses caused by exposure to workplace hazards.  Approximately 6 million workers suffer non-fatal workplace injuries.  Effective job safety and health add value to the workplace and help reduce worker injuries and illnesses.

As an employee, you have the right to a safe workplace.  The Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970 (OSHA Act) was passed to “prevent workers from being killed or seriously harmed at work.” The law requires employers to provide their employees with working conditions that are free of known dangers.

Your employer is responsible for providing a work environment that is free from hazards, however, in every aspect of safety awareness, employees have a responsibility too.

To gain awareness in the workplace, our online training resource, Safety National, covers 8 topics that will help improve team member’s awareness along with their overall safety culture.  The topics include the following:

  1. hazard communication
  2. personal protective equipment
  3. fire safety
  4. electrical safety
  5. lockout/tagout
  6. forklift awareness
  7. permit-required confined spaces
  8. bloodborne pathogens

Synergy offers several other safety resources to all current active clients that focus on the specific changes and challenges that are unique to all businesses.  To view these safety resources, Click Here!
