Winter Driving: Weather The Road

Do you enjoy driving in the winter?  Cold temperatures, limited visibility, slippery roads – that’s what winter driving is like in many parts of the country.

“After months of clear, dry roads, even experienced drivers can find themselves struggling to maintain control of their vehicle once ice and snow return.” Synergy Comp encourages you to brush up on your winter driving techniques to better prepare yourself to handle whatever the season throws your way.

Winter Driving Preparedness

To prepare for the upcoming winter season, you should do the following:

  • Prepare your car for winter
  • Prepare a winter survival kit to keep in your vehicle
  • Carry a cellphone.  If you need to send a text message or make a call, wait until your vehicle is safely stopped
  • Consider replacing your regular tires with snow tires for better traction
  • Keep tire properly inflated
  • Find an empty lot, away from traffic, and practice driving when the first few storms hit

If the forecast does not look promising, wait out the storm if possible.  But if you must travel, make sure you share your travel plans and route with someone before you leave. And remember, employees are a company’s greatest asset.  Never risk an employees safety and ensure a safe and happy time is had by all.
